Using several Chrome profiles with one AI agent

Many people keep more than one Chrome profile: one for work, one for personal use, maybe more. Each profile has its own logins. A natural question is whether an AI agent can use more than one of them. With Beacon, yes, and one agent can work across both.

Why profiles matter

A Chrome profile is a separate set of sessions and cookies. Your work Google account lives in one profile and your personal one in another. Because Beacon uses your own Chrome, the agent gets whatever the profile already has. That is also why it matters which profile a task runs in.

Linking profiles to one account

You link each Chrome profile to a single Beacon account using a pairing code from your account page. The code lasts 30 minutes. Each profile keeps its own logins, and your MCP key is not copied into every profile.

Your first linked profile is your primary profile, and that does not change. On the free plan you can link 3 profiles to one account.

Picking a profile in a request

Just say which one you mean. For example:

  • "In my work profile, check tomorrow's calendar and list the gaps."
  • "In primary, read my latest email."

If more than one profile is online and you do not name one, Beacon does not guess. The agent asks which profile you mean. That is deliberate: guessing wrong could mean work ends up in the wrong account.

One agent, two profiles

A single request can use both profiles. An agent can read an email in one profile and post something about it in another, in one go, and it stays in the right profile for each step. Every page the agent reads starts by saying which profile and which page it is, so work and personal do not get mixed up.

A common setup

A typical use is a work profile with your company accounts and a personal profile with your own. You might keep calendar, chat and admin tools in the first and email, travel and shopping in the second. Link both, and you can ask for tasks in either, or for a task that spans the two, without logging in again anywhere. If you are careful about what each profile can reach, naming the profile in the request is the habit that keeps work where you meant it to go.

Lanes still apply

Each agent still works in its own lane, a colour-coded tab group, and only acts inside its own tabs. With several profiles and several agents you can have different agents working in different profiles at the same time, and they do not touch each other's tabs. On the free plan, that is up to 5 agents at once in each profile.

Read how two agents share one Chrome without colliding for how lanes work.

If a profile is busy or offline

If Chrome is not open in a profile that is linked to your account, the agent reports that no Chrome is connected for the account, and it can retry as soon as you open one. If a profile is at its agent limit, wait a minute or stop one agent on the Agent Board, then ask again.

Getting started

Set up the extension in your first profile with the setup guide, then link the others from your account. The docs walk through profiles in more detail.
